Artwork Description:
In this sculpture, the artist jokes about his second life as a golden statue. Ancient Imperial sculptures inspired the pose and meaning. It is quite a grandiose project, one might think, and it really is. But it is produced as a sketch, a few steps away from fabrication by 3D printing, for example. The statue could come into existence smoothly; to become a real emperor in contemporary art, one needs ambitiously repeat the effort and significance of Damien Hirst or Jeff Koons: achieve equal superstar status and worldwide fame.
