Artwork Description:
Self Portrait as Saint George is a nearly classical project of Nicholaas Chiao's self-portrait. The figure of a man appears to be strong and confident, with a much-enforced body type than the artist in reality, it is idealized. The artist is holding a golden stick in his left hand high above the head. Artist for his entire life had a religious dream to become a prophet, like Jesus Christ, and the role of Saint George would be nearing that position of the Saint. Some people can recognize it as grandiosity, but nobody can deny that one could have grandiose plans and these plans could be realizable on a step-by-step basis for a long perspective.
