Artwork Description:
In this geometric abstraction, the artist ingeniously orchestrates the canvas by first dividing it into 4 squares. Each of these squares is further subdivided, beginning with broad, simple shapes that gradually evolve into more intricate and detailed patterns. Imagine this progression as a musical crescendo, where each note builds upon the last to create a symphony of complexity and harmony. The incremental complexity of these divisions mirrors the overarching theme of progression and development. The colors used here are nearly all primary: yellow, magenta, turquoise-blue, orange, black, and brown-red. For the artist, his minimal geometric compositions are among the most seminal works of his oeuvre, evoking near-religious feelings, as does the totemic tribal art. It is all about creating rules that build every successful composition.
