Artwork Description:
In this composition, dominated by the black sky, we see the flight of the USSR's first satellite, Sputnik-1, in 1957. Other colors of this composition are yellow, ocher, and dark red, with small amounts of white, blue, and pink. One of the few evident worldwide victories of the post-WW2 Soviet System was early success in the space race.
