Empire of the Sun envisions a radiant urban utopia, a domain of immortal presences suspended between science and myth. For Chiao, the trajectory of civilization is inseparable from the relentless pursuit of knowledge, a didactic ascent toward ethical transformation, and the promise of engineered immortality. Here, existence becomes a festival of sensation—an endless choreography of chemical and physical delight—where the boundaries between living and simulating dissolve, and the self is multiplied across innumerable possible lives.
Within this series, Chiao orchestrates a collision of chaos and order: turbulent grounds yield to the disciplined geometries of suprematist architecture and the fluid contours of biomorphic forms. Chromatic purity reigns, as colors—at once luminous and volatile—interlock in a fugue of complementary and adjacent harmonies, conjuring a visual Eden where structure and spontaneity coexist.
