In the abstract series Empire of the Sun, Nicholaas Chiao imagines an idyllic urban settlement inhabited by immortal beings. For Nicholaas Chiao, the path of human civilisation is indeed a path of science and education. We must become more ethical and immortal quite soon. And this idyllic new life will be a celebration of existence, a sequence of physical and chemical joys, in a scenario where humans can live or simulate many lives.
Empire of the Sun is a series of abstract paintings in which chaotic backgrounds are combined with suprematist rhythms of architectural and biomorphic kinds. Colors are pure and beautiful, colliding in complementary and neighboring harmonies.
