Artwork Description:
The Deep Deep Blue is a sculptural self-portrait by the artist. It is colored by the dark blue statue of an artist with much-emphasized muscle strength than it is in reality. Neoclassical sculpture gestures suggest the wish of death for a losing gladiator, a gesture from the ancient Roman tradition of voting in the gladiators' fights. However, the danger of death of Gladiator is not present here today and this sculpture serves as a reminder of darker and more dangerous times for humanity.
