Six Colors is a geometric abstraction based on the harmony of complimentary colors. Complimentary colors here create contrast and tension permitting this canvas to appear like a rhythm of near primary geometric elements. Violet countered by green, cerulean blue by red, mustard yellow by violet again. For Nicholaas Chiao simplicity does not mean the unimportance of the idea, contrary to that, the simpler some of his work appears the bigger meaning is invested behind it. All life exists between complementary elements - hot and cold, between liquid and solid, between the lightness of the sun, and the shadow of darkest nights, the orgasm of love and pain of dying.
